The North Alabama Medical Reserve Corps has been organized to recruit and train medical and non-medical volunteers to supplement existing community organizations in preparing for and responding to an emergency or disaster and to provide community education in disease awareness and prevention during non crisis times.
The Madison County Medical Alliance has chosen to accept the NAMRC as its next signature project. The Alliance is in a unique position to support the NAMRC in a number of ways; from the purchase of a Chill Zone portable misting station to be used during various open air events in Madison County (Panoply, Cotton Row Run, etc.) to the creation of a mobile medical unit that will be used to provide access to health care in the underserved communities and as regional resource to respond to disasters or public health emergencies in North Alabama. The NAMRC will serve 14 North Alabama counties.
This will allow the Alliance to impact the health and well-being of not only Madison County, but all of North Alabama.
